SELF STORAGE - GARDEN FURNITURE STORAGE:

Do you need space to store your garden furniture?

Summer ends and the fall brings cooler temperatures. One inconvenience of living in an apartment or condo is that the chairs, table and other things that make your deck or balcony such a comfortable place in the summer can become a burden over the winter.

You might have the same problem if you live in a house and only have a small shed. So you need a clean, dry place to store your outdoor furniture over the winter. Why not put it in a self-storage unit? While you’re at it, you can use it to store other outdoor items like flowerpots, cushions, lights, sunshade and gardening tools.

Spruce Up Your Deck

You deck, balcony or yard is your sanctuary. It lets you take advantage of good weather and it’s your connection to nature. It’s the perfect spot to enjoy your cup of coffee in the morning or a drink at the end of the day. It’s also where you can host barbecues for family and friends, and it’s a peaceful oasis where you can relax and read a good book. If you enjoy spending time outdoors, you’re likely to have outfitted your own little corner of paradise… But if you haven’t done so yet, here are some ideas on how to set up a deck that’s both comfortable and appealing.

Size Matters

The current trend in outdoor furniture is big sofas with thick, fluffy cushions. If you have enough space for this, then go ahead and spread out! But for smaller outdoor areas, a minimalist approach with a bistro table and a couple of folding chairs is the answer. It’ll be easier for you to move around, and if you ever want to make it extra comfy, you can always bring out an armchair.

Add Some Greenery

A few potted plants, vegetables or herbs can add colour and pleasing smells to your oasis. If your deck gets several hours of direct sun a day, you can grow vegetables in containers: nurseries and garden centres will be able to tell you which varieties are best suited for this purpose. If you really don’t have much space, try a vertical layout, placing potted plants and herbs on shelves or a bookcase.

Protect Your Privacy

Installing a trellis, blinds or curtains can give you a lot more privacy on your deck or balcony. A trellis can also be used as support for a climbing plant or flowering vine.

Set the Tone

Outdoor lighting and lamps come in a wide range of shapes, sizes and colours: it’s a great way to lend your outdoor space some character. You can even mingle different kinds of lights: strings of showy Edison bulbs, candles, paper lanterns and solar-powered lamps are only some of the many options out there.
